Book production services
Print preparation
Interior and cover-file preparation for your selected KDP or IngramSpark print specifications.
From beautiful pages to finished files.
Your printer, binding, paper and page count determine the final specifications. We work from those exact requirements and templates. Authors retain control of their own publishing accounts.
What’s included
- Confirmed trim, binding, paper and bleed requirements
- Interior preparation against the selected printer specification
- Cover preparation using the correct supplied template
- A delivery checklist and agreed production files
Your quotation lists the exact deliverables, revision rounds, price and schedule before any work begins.
Who this service suits
Your book is designed, but the files need to match the printer you have chosen. This service suits authors with existing layouts who need a defined production check and preparation for KDP, IngramSpark or another supplied specification. It is especially helpful when the interior and cover were made at different times, or when a second print edition needs its own files.
What to send
Send the existing PDF and, where available, the editable source with its linked images. Name the exact printer, trim, binding, paper and ink option. Include the official cover template and any messages already returned by the printing platform. Do not send account passwords.
Tell us whether the design is approved or still changing. A file can be technically checked while editorial changes remain unresolved, but final pagination is needed before the cover can be finished. If the page count changes, the spine may need to change too.
How we work through your book
We compare the supplied files with the agreed specification. The review covers relevant page dimensions, bleed, margins, fonts, image resolution and interior/cover pairing. Where the underlying file needs a substantial redesign or a new source file, we explain that before expanding the work.
We prepare the agreed corrections and return a proof for your review. You should check that the production adjustments have preserved the intended appearance. A technical change can affect line endings or image placement, so approval should include a visual read as well as the file checklist.
Your finished files
The handoff includes the production files and delivery checklist specified in your quotation. File names identify their destination so a KDP cover is not confused with an IngramSpark version. You upload the files in your own account, inspect the platform preview and order a physical proof before publication.
Schedule and quotation
Standard turnaround for this service is 2–3 business days from receipt of the final manuscript and images. Delivery within 24 hours (next day) is available with a 25% rush charge. Your quotation confirms the start, delivery time, scope and revision rounds before work begins.
The starting price above is a guide to the service, not a promise that every manuscript has the same production needs. The estimator uses your word count, images and selected services to help you plan. Send the brief when you are ready for a fixed quotation. There is no need to attach your manuscript to the first inquiry; project files can be supplied through your private Author Desk once the project is set up.
Questions about this service
Can one cover be used for every printer?
Do not assume so. Paper and binding affect the spine and overall cover dimensions. Each version should be checked against its own official template.
Will you sign into my publishing account?
No. You remain in control of the account and upload the delivered files yourself. Share an error message or screenshot if help is needed.
Does technical acceptance guarantee a perfect printed book?
No. The printer’s checks and a physical proof serve different purposes. Review the proof for the actual reading experience and appearance.
