Book production services
Book interior design
Interior layout for fiction, nonfiction, memoirs and more. Typography, pacing and page structure that help readers settle into your book.
A thoughtful home for every word.
We begin with your manuscript and the reading experience you want to create. A sample establishes the typography, chapter treatment and rhythm before the full interior is laid out.
What’s included
- A sample layout for your review
- Consistent chapter openings and body typography
- Front matter, contents and back matter
- A print interior prepared for the agreed specification
Your quotation lists the exact deliverables, revision rounds, price and schedule before any work begins.
Who this service suits
You have finished the writing and editing, and now you want the pages to feel like a book. This service suits novels, memoirs, nonfiction and other text-led manuscripts. The work is the interior: the type, chapter openings, page rhythm and supporting matter that make sustained reading comfortable. If your book includes substantial art, tables or exercises, tell us early so the quotation reflects those elements.
What to send
Send one final manuscript with a clear chapter order. Include the title page, dedication, acknowledgments and author biography you want in the book. Mark headings consistently and identify any intentional breaks in the text. A simple document is welcome; you do not need to build a finished page design yourself.
Choose the intended printer, binding and trim size, or tell us which choices you need help comparing. Supply original images separately, together with captions and placement notes. If an index is needed, say how it will be supplied; an index should not be assumed to be part of ordinary layout.
How we work through your book
We begin with a representative sample so you can judge the body type, chapter treatment and spacing at the intended page size. It is easier to discuss the feel of a few pages than to describe a design entirely in words. Review the sample at actual size, especially the smallest text.
Once the sample is agreed, we apply the design across the manuscript and prepare a proof. Check the contents, chapter openings, page numbers and any captions as well as the text. Collect corrections in the Author Desk so each change belongs to the right proof version.
Your finished files
The agreed print interior is delivered as a PDF prepared for the selected specification. Your quotation states any additional editions or source-file deliverables. A paperback cover and an EPUB are separate pieces of work, so include them in your brief if you need them. Keep the final interior version paired with its matching cover.
Schedule and quotation
Standard turnaround for this service is 2–3 business days from receipt of the final manuscript and images. Delivery within 24 hours (next day) is available with a 25% rush charge. Your quotation confirms the start, delivery time, scope and revision rounds before work begins.
The starting price above is a guide to the service, not a promise that every manuscript has the same production needs. The estimator uses your word count, images and selected services to help you plan. Send the brief when you are ready for a fixed quotation. There is no need to attach your manuscript to the first inquiry; project files can be supplied through your private Author Desk once the project is set up.
Questions about this service
Does formatting include editing?
Formatting arranges the supplied manuscript. It does not replace developmental editing, copyediting or proofreading. Complete those stages before sending the final text.
Can I choose the type and chapter style?
Yes. The sample gives us a concrete starting point for those decisions. Share examples of what you like and explain what works for your reader.
Will the final page count match an estimate?
Not necessarily. Type, spacing, chapter starts and front matter all affect pagination. Use the final PDF count when preparing the cover.
